What goes into a feasibility estimate before drawings exist

admin

At conception stage there are usually no drawings, no specification and a lot of optimism. A feasibility estimate is what brings the optimism back in line with the bank account before the design fees start mounting.

Our feasibility process for Devon homeowners covers a site visit, a written summary of likely scope, a benchmarked cost range with a clear contingency, and a list of the assumptions the number depends on. If the numbers don’t work, we say so. Better to find that out for £750 than after £15,000 in design fees.

Where the numbers do work, the feasibility report becomes the brief for whichever designer you commission next.
