Well Barn A beautiful barn conversion where I carried out an extensive QS process and the client needed to scale back the design proposals to align with their budget. The documents provided were detailed and clear, enabling a value engineering process to take place — and the client instructed our contractor to undertake the works.

The Beeches I undertook the full QS package for this lovely new-build project, starting with a fully broken-down take-off, client meetings, value engineering, contractor valuations and invoicing, and variation tracking and management.

The property owner liked that the quote was simple to read, clearly broken down and clarified what was included. This enabled a process of value engineering where we discussed their project priorities and reviewed areas where the project could be scaled back.

I undertook bi-weekly valuations and invoicing which helped the contractor with cash flow and also kept the client informed of any variations to the contract. These visits included collating geo-located photos for the purpose of SAP report population and to assist with build warranty evidencing (along with the required visits and Building Control checks).

I undertook full QS, design and project management services on this rear extension project. The works were allowed under permitted development rights, so I co-ordinated basic layout drawings, produced a fully priced Schedule of Work (specification document) and then managed the process through to completion. The contractor was awarded an LABC Highly Recommended award for this Design & Build contract.

Whitchurch Methodist Church

Phase 1 of a church conversion into a 2-bedroom upside-down house. Site visits were undertaken, supported by a fully broken-down and specified take-off document. With the client residing outside of the UK, we gauged finish preferences via email and provided links with options to detail out the finishes specification — ensuring the pricing was correct at an early stage.
