Foul and surface water drainage runs determine where an extension can be built without significant additional cost. Building over an existing run requires Build Over consent from the water authority and can constrain foundation design. Diverting runs is possible but adds cost and time.
For Devon homeowners we encourage drainage to be considered at the very first design discussion. It is cheaper to design with the existing drainage than to redesign because of it.
We can carry out a basic drainage assessment as part of our feasibility process if the survey information isn’t already available.
