Contractors quote in their own formats: some by trade, some by phase, some on a single line per package. To compare them properly you need to map each quote against the same baseline scope and identify the inclusions, exclusions, allowances and provisional sums.
We do this as a normalisation exercise on behalf of the client. The output is a one-page summary showing each contractor’s price against each scope element, plus a written commentary on the differences.
Often the cheapest headline number isn’t the cheapest project once allowances and exclusions are equalised. The right answer is rarely obvious without normalisation.
